Just over a month from now Star Trek fans were meant to be rounding off their Christmas with a helping of JJ Abrams's take on the original series, but with the film now set for a May 2009 release we're going to have to make do with this new trailer.

Starring Tom Cruise, Valkyrie is based on an incredible true story from the horrors of World War II. In a country in the grips of evil, in a police state where every move is being watched in a world where justice and honor have been subverted, a group of men hidden inside the highest reaches of power decide to take action and assassinate Hitler.

JJ Abrams, director, executive producer and co-creator of Lost, Alias and Mission: Impossible III, unveiled 25 minutes of explosive and never-before-seen footage from his upcoming movie Star Trek last week in London for a select audience. We were lucky enough to sit down with the director afterwards and talk about his Trek vision, which he describes as more of a “re-invigoration” than a re-boot.
